Mexico City, February 16 – The Director General of the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE), Emilia Calleja Alor, along with the Director General of ICA, Guadalupe Phillips Margain, and authorities from the Mexico City government, conducted a technical visit to Estadio Ciudad de México. This inspection, part of a wider tour of Mexican host cities for the FIFA World Cup 2026, aimed to supervise the strategic electrical infrastructure critical for ensuring a reliable power supply during the tournament for both residents and visitors.

Comprehensive Electrical System Review Underway

During the tour, officials meticulously reviewed the operational conditions of the main and emergency underground circuits, as well as a second aerial emergency circuit. These systems are designed to manage high demand scenarios and ensure continuous operation. The inspection also covered the disconnector and the electrical substation. Furthermore, the visit included a follow-up on predictive and preventive maintenance actions, as well as inspection and verification procedures carried out as part of the strengthening plan mandated by the Federal Government’s Follow-up Group for the 2026 World Cup, led by the Ministry of Energy.

Emilia Calleja Alor, Director General of the CFE, commended the quality and swiftness of the work performed by electrical personnel to provide energy to this World Cup venue. She emphasized that the completed works will not only benefit the World Cup but also improve services for domestic, commercial, and industrial users, as well as the general population in Mexico City.

This visit marked the conclusion of a work tour that included Jalisco, Nuevo León, and Mexico City. The CFE reiterated its commitment to sustained and coordinated collaboration with state authorities to guarantee electrical reliability, rapid response capabilities, and operational safety across all venues for the 2026 World Cup.
