Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, April 17, 2026 – The Ciudad Juarez City Council is currently evaluating a proposal to donate two municipal land plots to the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) for the establishment of Child Care and Education Centers (CECI) within the border city. This strategic move aims to provide legal certainty to existing projects and facilitate the construction of new facilities that will significantly benefit local families.
Councilors Review Donation Request for IMSS Child Care Centers
Councilor Karla Michaeel Escalante Ramírez, who also coordinates the Commission, along with Councilor Héctor Hugo Avitia Arellanes, have thoroughly reviewed the formal request to grant these two land plots to the IMSS. The proposed donation is crucial for regularizing the legal status of the sites where these Child Care and Education Centers are already under construction, thereby consolidating these vital projects for the community.
Details of the Proposed Land Donations
One of the plots is situated in Block 20 of the Las Gladiolas etapa 2 subdivision, specifically on Descubrimiento Street, encompassing an area of 159,700 square meters. The second plot is an excess polygon located in Block 75 of the Sendero San Isidro etapa 8 subdivision, between Senderos Valladolid and Senderos de Jerez streets, covering an area of 91,329 square meters. Additionally, a fraction on Senderos del Quintanar Street, measuring 10,255 square meters, is also included in the proposed donation.
It was highlighted that both spaces are already part of areas where the Child Care and Education Centers are being built. The donation will enable the formalization of their legal status, ensuring the smooth progression and completion of these projects.
Legal Certainty and Community Benefits
Initially, these plots were considered surplus land and were not formally registered. However, following extensive studies, they have been incorporated into the municipal patrimony, paving the way for the donation process. The coordinator of the Commission emphasized that this action will provide legal certainty and significantly advance the implementation of projects designed to enhance the quality of life for the population, particularly for children who will benefit from these care and development facilities.
Impact on Families and Children
The establishment of these Child Care and Education Centers is expected to have a profound positive impact on working families in Ciudad Juarez. By providing safe and nurturing environments for children, the centers will enable parents to pursue employment and educational opportunities with greater peace of mind, contributing to the overall economic and social well-being of the city.
