Ciudad Juárez, March 2, 2026 – The Municipal Government of Ciudad Juárez, through its Health Department, has announced the opening of the 2026 Scholarship Program for Rehabilitation Centers. This initiative aims to provide 150 financial supports for individuals undergoing addiction treatment, with each scholarship valued at 20,000 Mexican pesos.

Program Aims to Support Addiction Treatment

Dr. Jonathan Garibo, Medical Coordinator of the Municipal Health Department, and teacher Alejandra Reyes, explained that the program’s primary objective is to offer economic assistance for the inpatient and residential treatment of people struggling with addiction. The 20,000-peso scholarship will be directly disbursed to the residential centers where the beneficiaries are receiving treatment, covering either partially or fully the costs associated with their rehabilitation.

This program underscores the municipal administration’s commitment to addressing public health challenges, particularly those related to addiction, which significantly impacts individuals, families, and the community at large.

Eligibility Requirements for Applicants

To be considered for the scholarship, interested individuals must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of Ciudad Juárez.
  • Be enrolled in a formally established rehabilitation center.
  • Present a valid official identification.
  • Provide a recent proof of address.
  • Submit a certificate from the rehabilitation center confirming their ongoing treatment.
  • Present a socio-economic study demonstrating the need for financial assistance.

For minors, the application process must be completed by a parent, guardian, or legal representative.

Comprehensive Care and Rehabilitation Program

Rehabilitation centers participating in the program offer comprehensive care that includes medical evaluations, psychological counseling, individual and group therapies, family support, and strategies for relapse prevention. The rehabilitation program is structured in various phases, encompassing supervised detoxification, emotional stabilization, and the development of essential life skills. Additionally, formative activities are integrated to support the social reintegration of beneficiaries.

The timely intervention in addiction cases is crucial due to its profound impact on public health, safety, and family stability. The absence of adequate treatment can lead to severe medical complications, legal issues, and social repercussions. By facilitating access to specialized services, the program aims to reduce relapse rates and promote successful social reintegration for those affected by addiction.

Application Deadline and Registration Location

The deadline for submitting all required documentation is March 13th of the current year. Applications must be submitted in person at the Urban Health Center B, located at Puerto Progreso and Puerto Anzio streets, in the Portal del Roble neighborhood. The operating hours for registration are from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Authorities have urged the public to consult the complete official call for applications on the Municipal Government’s official channels. This will provide additional details and specific guidelines pertaining to the program, ensuring all interested parties have access to comprehensive information.

This initiative is a vital step towards strengthening the support system for individuals battling addiction in Ciudad Juárez, offering a chance for recovery and a healthier future for the community.
