City Continues Extensive Pothole Repair Program in Ciudad Juárez

Ciudad Juárez, May 11, 2026 – Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar confirmed today that the city of Ciudad Juárez is maintaining a robust infrastructure program with 18 active brigades dedicated to repairing potholes. This initiative aims to improve road conditions and ensure safer transit for residents and visitors.

The Mayor’s statement highlighted that the current operational structure includes six permanent brigades directly managed by the municipality and an additional 12 brigades contracted through private companies. This dual approach allows for a broader and more efficient coverage of the city’s extensive road network.

Significant Progress in April

During the month of April, these combined efforts yielded substantial results, with a total of 2,380 potholes repaired. This figure underscores the commitment of the municipal government to addressing infrastructure challenges and enhancing urban mobility.

“We are continuously working to provide our citizens with roads in optimal condition,” stated Mayor Pérez Cuéllar. “The collaboration between our municipal teams and private initiative has proven to be highly effective in tackling the widespread issue of potholes.”

Broader Context of Infrastructure Works

The ongoing pothole repair program is part of a larger strategy to maintain and improve the city’s infrastructure. Related initiatives have included:

  • Road Intervention: In March, a hundred streets in Juárez were intervened with pothole repair works.
  • Sewer and Sinkhole Repair: The Local Water and Sanitation Board (JMAS) has ensured safe mobility by repairing trenches and sinkholes in various neighborhoods, leading to over 500 pavement replacements.
  • Collector Rehabilitation: Rehabilitation of the Nadadores collector on Canutillo Street is advancing, aiming to benefit over 100,000 inhabitants by reducing wastewater outbreaks and improving system flow.

These efforts collectively contribute to a more resilient and functional urban environment in Ciudad Juárez.

Future Outlook and Continued Commitment

The municipality plans to continue these intensive repair efforts, particularly as weather conditions can often exacerbate road damage. The sustained presence of 18 brigades indicates a long-term commitment to maintaining the quality of the city’s roads.

The Mayor’s office reiterated its dedication to collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to ensure that Ciudad Juárez’s infrastructure meets the needs of its growing population. Residents are encouraged to report potholes and other road damages to the appropriate municipal channels to facilitate timely repairs.

Further updates on the pothole repair program and other infrastructure projects will be provided by the municipal government as they become available.
