Ciudad Juárez, February 11, 2026 – The State Government has officially announced that the Collective Weddings ceremony, organized in celebration of Valentine’s Day, will be held on February 19. The event is scheduled to take place at the Centro Cultural Paso del Norte, with the exact time yet to be determined.
Registration Deadline Approaching
Esteban González Villa, an official from the Civil Registry in Ciudad Juárez, highlighted that the registration period for couples wishing to participate in this ceremony remains open until Friday, February 13. This leaves two more days for interested parties to sign up.
Benefits for Participating Couples
González Villa emphasized several benefits for couples choosing to marry through this collective ceremony. Participants are not required to bring witnesses, and they will enjoy a significant saving of approximately 1,200 pesos. This saving comes from receiving their first marriage certificate free of charge and being exempt from mandatory pre-marital talks.
Required Documentation
Couples must submit the following documents at any Civil Registry office:
- Original and copy of a recent birth certificate for each individual.
- Three copies of official identification for each individual.
- A medical certificate for both parties, issued by any public or private institution or doctor.
- A completed application form from the Civil Registry.
For individuals who have been previously married, an additional divorce decree or death certificate of the former spouse is required. Foreign nationals must present an apostilled birth certificate, and if the document is not in Spanish, an official translation must be provided.
Related Initiatives
This initiative follows similar efforts to promote civil unions. Notably, a collective gay wedding was announced in Acapulco, based on authorization from the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation. In a previous event, 4,000 couples in Juárez were married during the fifth edition of collective marriages, bringing happiness and love to many on Valentine’s Day.
The State Government’s commitment to facilitating civil unions underscores a broader effort to support families and formalize relationships within the community, making legal marriage more accessible to all citizens.
