Coyoacán Mayor Giovani Gutiérrez Leads Approval Ratings in Mexico City
Mexico City, April 26 – Giovani Gutiérrez, the mayor of Coyoacán, has secured the top position in the latest approval ratings among Mexico City’s 16 borough mayors. The assessment, conducted by Facto Métrica, reveals significant differences in public perception regarding the performance of local governments, security efforts, and the quality of basic services.
As the second quarter of 2026 progresses, Gutiérrez, representing the PAN party, leads the overall evaluation with a 62.0% approval rating. This places him ahead of his counterparts, including those from the Morena party, who also feature prominently in the top rankings across various management categories.
Overall Performance: Coyoacán at the Forefront
The study, which measured the opinions of Mexico City residents on their leaders’ work, shows a competitive landscape between opposition and Morena party mayors. Following Gutiérrez, Gabriela Osorio Hernández of Tlalpan (Morena) achieved 61.7% approval, and Lourdes Paz Reyes of Iztacalco (Morena) secured 56.3%.

Berenice Hernández of Tláhuac (33.9%) and Circe Camacho Bastida of Xochimilco (27.3%), both from the Morena party, were at the bottom of the list.
Security Efforts: Gutiérrez Also Leads
In the crucial area of combating insecurity, Giovani Gutiérrez once again topped the list with a 50.1% approval rating. He was closely followed by Gabriela Osorio (49.3%), Lourdes Paz (48.4%), Javier Casarín (48.3%), Evelyn Parra (47.9%), and Carlos Orvañanos (47.7%).
Other notable mentions in security approval included Mauricio Tabe (47.2%), Luis Mendoza (45.0%), and Alessandra Rojo de la Vega (38.7%). Janecarlo Lozano received 34.4%, José Mercado 32.4%, Berenice Hernández 32.0%, and Aleida Alavez 31.5%. The lowest figures were recorded for José Octavio Rivero (30.6%), Nancy Núñez (29.0%), and Circe Camacho (23.2%).
Public Services: Iztacalco Excels
When evaluating urban maintenance and public services, Lourdes Paz Reyes of Iztacalco took the lead with 56.6%. Giovani Gutiérrez followed with 55.1%, and Evelyn Parra with 53.8%.
Further down the list were Gabriela Osorio (51.0%), Javier López Casarín (48.8%), Carlos Orvañanos (47.3%), Alessandra Rojo de la Vega (45.5%), and Luis Mendoza (43.1%). The remaining mayors included Mauricio Tabe (40.3%), Janecarlo Lozano (37.8%), Aleida Alavez (36.1%), José Octavio Rivero (36.1%), and Nancy Núñez (33.0%). The lowest ratings for public services were given to Circe Camacho Bastida (30.2%), José Mercado (27.6%), and Berenice Hernández (26.3%).
Methodology of the Study
The survey was conducted by FactoMétrica for the Capital Monitor. It involved a total sample size of 16,000 cases, with 1,000 participants per borough, targeting residents of Mexico City aged 18 and over. Data collection occurred from April 20 to April 22, 2026, through telephone interviews. The study boasts a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of +/- 3.1%.
