Digital Competence Center Reopens in Ciudad Juárez to Boost Industrial Automation Workforce

Ciudad Juárez, June 11 – In a significant move to address the growing demand for skilled labor in the industrial automation sector, the Digital Competence and Technological Innovation Center has been re-inaugurated in Ciudad Juárez. Located at the National Chamber of the Manufacturing Industry (Canacintra) facilities on Henry Dunant 4525 in the Pronaf area, the center aims to provide specialized training in manufacturing processes based on industrial automation and robotics.

Focus on High-Demand Skills

The re-inauguration event highlighted the center’s commitment to developing a highly qualified workforce capable of meeting the rigorous demands of modern manufacturing. According to Luis Fernando Medina González, Head of Linkage at Icatech, the training sessions will cover specialized topics such as programmable logic controllers (PLC), industrial automation, and robotics. These areas are experiencing increasing demand within the productive and manufacturing sectors of the border region.

“The objective is to generate skilled labor in the industrial automation sector that can respond to the demands of manufacturing processes based on industrial automation and robotics,” stated Medina González.

Collaboration with Industry Leaders

The center’s capabilities are significantly enhanced through a collaboration with PLC Automation, which has provided specialized equipment for practical training. This partnership ensures that participants gain hands-on experience and develop strategic competencies crucial for their professional integration or advancement in the industry.

Upon successful completion of the training, participants will receive an official certificate endorsed by Icatech, issued under the guidelines established by the State Government and the Ministry of Public Education (SEP). This certification provides significant curricular value and certainty for those looking to enter or advance within the field.

Addressing Future Challenges and Opportunities

The re-inauguration ceremony also featured a conference titled “Challenges, Opportunities, and Future Trends,” delivered by Blas Quintana. Quintana addressed the primary challenges and opportunities facing the industry in light of advancements in automation, process digitalization, and the adoption of new technologies. This session underscored the center’s forward-thinking approach to preparing the workforce for the evolving industrial landscape.

The initiative is a collaborative effort, with robotics courses initially supported by the Institute for Training for Work of the State of Chihuahua (Icatech). This partnership reflects a concerted effort to foster economic growth and technological advancement in the region by investing in human capital.

The reopening of the Digital Competence and Technological Innovation Center marks a crucial step for Ciudad Juárez in strengthening its position as a manufacturing hub, ensuring that its workforce remains competitive and adaptable to the demands of a rapidly changing global economy.
