CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Chih. – Elements of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat (SSPM) successfully rescued a dog that had become trapped inside a storm drain in the Emiliano Zapata neighborhood. The rescue operation followed an emergency call made to the 911 number.

Prompt Response to Citizen Report

According to the corporation, officers assigned to the Central District responded to the distress call. Upon their arrival, a citizen informed them of the need for assistance to extract the animal, which was unable to exit the storm drain on its own.

The incident, which occurred yesterday, August 10, 2026, highlights the SSPM’s commitment to responding to citizen calls and providing support in various situations requiring police intervention. This type of action strengthens the bond and trust between the police force and the community.

Community Collaboration Aids in Rescue

During the rescue efforts, a local citizen joined in and provided a ladder, which proved instrumental in allowing the officers to perform the necessary maneuvers to safely retrieve the dog. Thanks to the coordination between the agents and the community member, the animal was rescued without any reported incidents or injuries.

The SSPM emphasized that these actions are part of their ongoing commitment to public service and community engagement. The successful rescue underscores the importance of citizen participation and collaboration with law enforcement in addressing community needs.

This event is a testament to the effectiveness of the emergency response system and the dedication of the municipal police in Ciudad Juárez to ensuring the well-being of all residents, including animals.
