Ecological Sticker Cost to Increase in Ciudad Juárez for 2026: What’s the New Price?
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua – The ecological sticker in Ciudad Juárez is set to increase in price, as announced by the municipal Ecology Directorate. This adjustment, effective from February 2, 2026, is part of the annual update established in the Revenue Law.
Price Adjustment Details
César Díaz, head of the Ecology Directorate, clarified that the price for the vehicle verification sticker for gasoline-powered cars will remain at 339.42 pesos until February 1. From February 2 onwards, the cost will rise to 351.93 pesos, which is approximately 352 pesos. This represents an increase of 12.51 pesos.
Díaz emphasized that this increase is not a unilateral decision by the municipality but rather an update based on the value of the Measurement and Update Unit (UMA), a mechanism applied at the beginning of each year.
Citizen Discontent Over Lack of Visible Benefits
Despite the increment being considered minimal, the news has generated dissatisfaction among some citizens. They argue that the core issue is not the price adjustment itself, but rather the perceived lack of visible results in urban infrastructure and public services.
Residents expressed that if the funds were clearly reflected in urban improvements, the increase would be more understandable. However, they pointed out persistent problems such as poor road conditions and traffic chaos after even light rainfall.
Concerns were also raised regarding irregular practices in the sale of ecological stickers. Some citizens reported that stickers are being sold at inflated prices without proper vehicle inspection, casting doubt on the environmental objectives of the program.
Verification Statistics for 2025 and 2026
According to figures from the Ecology Directorate, 232,000 vehicles underwent verification in 2025. In contrast, only about 1,500 verifications have been carried out so far in 2026 across the 51 centers operated by 32 concessionaires in the city.
