Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua – Authorities in Ciudad Juárez have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the intentional burning of five new vehicles at a car dealership. The suspect, identified as Noé Alexander N., was apprehended after an investigation that utilized video surveillance footage.

Arrest Made After Surveillance Footage Leads to Suspect

The incident, which saw five new vehicles engulfed in flames, prompted a swift response from local law enforcement. The investigation quickly focused on identifying the perpetrator through available security camera footage.

“The individual was detained in a residential area near the automotive agency,” stated a spokesperson for the local police department. “Noé Alexander N., aged 23, has been positively identified by authorities as the person responsible for the arson.”

The surveillance footage reportedly captured the man dousing the vehicles with fuel before setting them ablaze. The motive behind the attack has not yet been publicly disclosed by investigators, but initial reports suggest the suspect may be a former employee.

Pattern of Intentional Fires Under Investigation

This incident is not isolated, as Ciudad Juárez has recently experienced a series of intentional fires targeting vehicles and businesses. This week, another significant arson incident was reported at a bus depot, where three passenger buses were intentionally set on fire, resulting in considerable damage.

Furthermore, last Wednesday, two additional vehicles were set ablaze in the Infonavita Aeropuerto neighborhood, specifically at the intersection of Rosetilla and Tancítaro streets. These incidents highlight a concerning trend of deliberate property destruction in the city.

Daily Arson Incidents Plague Ciudad Juárez

Civil Protection and Fire Department officials in Ciudad Juárez confirm that they respond to at least one vehicle fire daily. These incidents vary in nature, ranging from accidental to intentionally set.

“We regularly attend to vehicle fires, whether accidental or intentional, due to various circumstances,” commented a fire department official. “Just recently, we responded to another vehicle fire that is presumed to have been intentional.”

The wave of arsons has also extended to businesses. Auto parts stores have been targeted, such as an incident in the Granjero neighborhood in the south of the city, where several vehicles were completely destroyed in an intentional fire.

Chihuahua State Prosecutor’s Office Investigates

The Chihuahua State Prosecutor’s Office has launched an investigation into these multiple arson cases. While Noé Alexander N. has been arrested for the dealership fire, authorities have not yet apprehended any other individuals in connection with the other incidents.

“The Fiscalía de Justicia de Chihuahua is actively investigating these fires,” said Francisco Javier Carmona, reporting for Noticias NMAS. “However, at this time, no other persons involved have been detained.”

The ongoing investigations aim to determine if there are any links between these various arson attacks and to bring all perpetrators to justice. The community remains on alert as authorities work to address this concerning rise in intentional fires across Ciudad Juárez.
