Yesterday, July 28, 2026, over 200 members representing 30 Community Action Nuclei (NACs) gathered for the II MIDAS Meeting, an event designed to enhance their capabilities and foster effective local leadership.

II MIDAS Meeting: A Platform for Empowerment

The II MIDAS Meeting served as a vital platform for participants to acquire new skills and reinforce existing ones, focusing on strategies for community development and social impact. The event brought together a diverse group of community leaders, all committed to driving positive change within their respective neighborhoods and districts across Ciudad Juárez.

Key Objectives of the Meeting

The primary objectives of the II MIDAS Meeting included:

  • Capacity Building: Providing participants with tools and knowledge to effectively address community challenges.
  • Network Strengthening: Facilitating collaboration and exchange of best practices among different NACs.
  • Leadership Development: Cultivating strong, proactive leaders capable of mobilizing their communities.
  • Promoting Citizen Participation: Encouraging greater involvement of residents in local decision-making processes.

According to Paola Romo, a key figure in citizen participation initiatives, the meeting underscored the importance of empowering local residents to become agents of change. “When citizens are equipped with the right skills and knowledge, they can truly transform their communities from within,” Romo stated.

FECHAC’s Commitment to Community Transformation

FECHAC has been a consistent advocate for community development in Chihuahua, with a strong focus on fostering citizen engagement and leadership. The organization believes that sustainable change is best achieved through empowered local communities that can identify their own needs and implement tailored solutions.

The initiative to strengthen citizen leadership is part of FECHAC’s broader strategy to enhance social cohesion and improve the quality of life for residents in Ciudad Juárez. By investing in local leaders, FECHAC aims to create a ripple effect of positive change that will benefit the entire city.

Impact on Participating Communities

The 30 Community Action Nuclei involved in the II MIDAS Meeting represent various sectors and neighborhoods within Ciudad Juárez. Their participation is expected to translate into more effective community projects, increased civic engagement, and a stronger sense of collective responsibility among residents.

Examples of areas where enhanced citizen leadership can make a significant difference include:

  • Improved public safety initiatives.
  • Development of local infrastructure projects.
  • Promotion of educational and cultural programs.
  • Strengthening of social support networks.

The long-term goal is to build resilient communities that are self-sufficient and capable of addressing their own challenges, ultimately contributing to a more vibrant and prosperous Ciudad Juárez.

Looking Ahead: Sustaining the Momentum
