Five Individuals Linked to Migrant Kidnapping in Ciudad Juárez
Five people have been formally linked to the kidnapping of a migrant in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, who was seeking to cross into the United States. The accused were identified as Mariano ‘N’, Rita ‘N’, Ana ‘N’, Luis ‘N’, and Javier ‘N’. They face charges of aggravated kidnapping, human trafficking, and organized crime.
During a court hearing, the Federal Public Ministry presented evidence to a control judge, who subsequently ordered the five defendants to stand trial and imposed mandatory pre-trial detention.
Details of the Incident and Investigation
The incident occurred last July when the victim arrived in Ciudad Juárez. The migrant was housed in the city with the intention of continuing their journey to the United States. However, they were deprived of their liberty, and their family began receiving demands for money in exchange for their release. Fortunately, the victim managed to escape on their own.
Following a formal complaint, personnel from the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), with the support of the Criminal Investigation Agency and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection, initiated an investigation to gather information about the event. Through interviews and other investigative procedures, authorities identified several individuals potentially involved in the kidnapping.
Arrests and Ongoing Legal Proceedings
With the evidence collected, a control judge from the Federal Criminal Justice Center in Chihuahua, located in Ciudad Juárez, authorized arrest warrants for the five suspects. The arrests were carried out after two raids were conducted, involving elements from the FGR and the collaborating security forces.
In addition to linking them to the process, the judge established a period for further complementary investigation to determine the potential responsibility of each defendant.
