Residents in four Ciudad Juárez neighborhoods now have access to ‘Clean Point to Your Neighborhood’ containers, where they can deposit furniture, tires, bulky items, and other large household waste until Monday, July 6th.

Container Locations and Schedule

The Department of Cleaning announced that the containers were installed this Friday, July 3rd, at the following locations:

  • Azteca neighborhood: Tepanecas and Géminis streets
  • Tierra Nueva neighborhood: Intersection of Puerto Huelva and Puerto La Coruña
  • Roma Poniente subdivision: Plaza de San Pedro and Plaza Berberini streets
  • Pánfilo Natera neighborhood: Nochiztlán street, between Pavo Real and Flamingo

The program will remain active in these locations until Monday, July 6th, 2026.

Program Details and Guidelines

Gibran Solís Kanahan, Director of Cleaning, explained that the program installs four containers each weekend in different areas of the city to facilitate the proper disposal of waste that is not typically collected by residential garbage services.

He noted that if resident participation is high, the containers may be replaced during the weekend to maintain their capacity. In some sectors, up to two replacements might occur in a single day.

The official emphasized that the containers are exclusively for bulky household waste, such as furniture, tires, and disused items. Residents are urged not to deposit soil, rubble, or hazardous waste, as these require specialized handling. He also reiterated that the service is not intended for tire repair shops or commercial establishments dealing with tires.

Why this program is important:

  • Proper Waste Disposal: Provides a convenient and free option for residents to dispose of large items that often end up illegally dumped.
  • Community Cleanliness: Helps maintain cleaner neighborhoods and prevents the accumulation of waste that can attract pests or become fire hazards.
  • Environmental Protection: Encourages responsible waste management, reducing environmental pollution.

What to bring to the ‘Clean Point’:

  • Old furniture (sofas, chairs, tables)
  • Used tires (from personal vehicles only)
  • Mattresses
  • Appliances (non-hazardous)
  • Other bulky household items

What NOT to bring:

  • Soil and rubble (construction debris)
  • Hazardous waste (chemicals, paints, batteries)
  • Commercial waste (from businesses)
  • Tires from commercial establishments or tire repair shops

Contact Information for the Department of Cleaning:

For more information or to report illegal dumping, residents can contact the Department of Cleaning. Specific contact numbers were not provided in the source material, but general city services can typically be reached through the main municipal government lines.

Related Initiatives and Concerns:

This initiative is part of broader efforts by the municipal government to improve urban cleanliness and public health. Previous related articles highlight concerns about:

  • Rickettsiosis: Authorities urge residents to utilize ‘Clean Point’ containers to remove bulky items and tires that can harbor ticks and other parasites, especially during outbreaks of rickettsiosis.
  • Rainy Season Risks: The Department of Cleaning also calls on citizens to maintain clean properties and vacant lots to prevent risks during the rainy season, as accumulated waste can exacerbate flooding and create unsanitary conditions.
  • Mega-Cleanup Operations: The city regularly conducts larger ‘Megadestilichadero’ operations, where municipal departments facilitate the disposal of old furniture, mattresses, and tires.

These combined efforts aim to foster a cleaner, healthier, and safer environment for all residents of Ciudad Juárez.
