Ciudad Juárez, February 13 – The Fondo de la Vivienda del ISSSTE (Fovissste) has successfully relieved over 300 families in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, of their mortgage debt, delivering certificates that confirm the full liquidation of their housing loans. This initiative falls under the institution’s Social Justice program.
Fovissste’s Commitment to Social Justice and Housing Rights
The certificate delivery ceremony was led by Jabnely Maldonado Meza, Fovissste’s Executive Vocal, who emphasized that these actions are designed to address deteriorated credits and ensure legal certainty for state workers. “We aim to guarantee the human right to adequate housing; what are we doing? We are recovering our social vocation,” stated the official.
Maldonado highlighted that the Social Justice program is dedicated to ensuring the right to adequate housing through various support mechanisms, including:
- Debt forgiveness
- Interest condonations
- Balance reductions
- Freezing of debts
Nationally, the program has benefited approximately 250,000 people, nearing its goal of 400,000 beneficiaries, which represents nearly half of Fovissste’s current portfolio.
National Data Update Campaign and Territorial Expansion
Fovissste also underscored the launch of its National Data Update Campaign. This campaign enables beneficiaries to receive timely information regarding their financing and available benefits. The event in Ciudad Juárez marks the first of its kind in the municipality and the second in the state of Chihuahua, aligning with Fovissste’s strategy to strengthen its territorial presence and expand direct assistance to accredited individuals.
This effort by Fovissste is part of a broader strategy to ensure that public servants have access to dignified and secure housing, contributing to their well-being and stability. The program’s success in Ciudad Juárez is a testament to its effectiveness in addressing long-standing housing debt issues and providing tangible relief to many families.
The institution continues to work towards its national objectives, with ongoing efforts to reach more beneficiaries and further solidify its commitment to social justice in housing across Mexico.
