Mexico City, April 17 – The Electoral Institute of Mexico City (IECM) has initiated the distribution of over 5 million consultative and elective ballots to be used in the election of the 2026 Community Participation Commissions and the 2026 and 2027 Participatory Budget Consultation. This material, produced by Talleres Gráficos de México, is now being dispatched across the capital.

Security and Call to Action for May 3rd Elections

Following a thorough verification of security features and the official dispatch of the electoral materials under strict custody, Patricia Avendaño Durán, the President Counselor of the IECM, urged the public to participate in the upcoming elections on May 3rd. She emphasized the importance of exercising their legitimate right to vote.

“I would hope, and this is my greatest wish; I am also not blind to the fact that participation percentages have been declining, and yes, it seems complicated, but we are making our best effort so that citizens find polling stations installed, with the appropriate people receiving participation, and to be able to provide reliable results so that it can be carried out at least this year and then re-evaluate with the competent authorities so that we can review these mechanisms,” Avendaño Durán stated regarding voter turnout.

Millions of Ballots and Electoral Materials Distributed Across CDMX

In total, 5,258,709 elective and consultative ballots will be distributed to Polling and Voting Stations. Additionally, 69,000 journal, scrutiny, computation, and incident acts; 122,000 auxiliary documents; and 7,500 Braille masks are part of the distributed materials. These materials, which adhere to the regulations and designs of the Electoral Institute of Mexico City, are being sent to the 33 District Directorates throughout the capital.

Details of the Civic Day on Sunday, May 3rd

The IECM reminded the public that the in-person civic day will commence at 09:00 AM on Sunday, May 3rd, and conclude at 05:00 PM on the same day. This distribution ensures that Mexico City residents have the necessary resources to decide the allocation of funds in their communities and elect their citizen representatives.
