Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico – December 12, 2025 – The reigning state champions, Indios de Ciudad Juárez, have announced a significant new addition to their roster, welcoming former San Diego Padres prospect Alain Camou. The move signals the team’s strong intent to secure a second consecutive state championship.

Former Padres Prospect Joins the Tribe

In a midday announcement on Friday, the Indios de Ciudad Juárez confirmed the arrival of Alain Camou, a 22-year-old infielder. Camou, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, brings a versatile skill set to the team, having played second base and shortstop during his professional career. While with the Padres organization, he also gained experience at third base and left field, demonstrating his adaptability across the infield and even in the outfield.

Camou was initially signed by the San Diego Padres in 2022. During his tenure with the Padres, he progressed through various levels, from Rookie League to Advanced Class A, until 2024. His cumulative statistics with the Padres organization include a .284 batting average, one home run, 64 runs batted in (RBI), 19 stolen bases, and an On-base Plus Slugging (OPS) of .740.

However, he was released by the Padres for the 2025 season, leading him to play independent baseball with the Evansville Otters in the Frontier League. In 33 games with the Otters, Camou posted a .208 batting average, 14 RBIs, and three stolen bases.

A Challenging Path to the Championship Roster

Camou now faces the challenge of earning a spot on a highly competitive Indios roster, a team that recently clinched the state championship in October. The expectations for the upcoming 2026 season are high, with the team focused on achieving a back-to-back championship title.

His path to securing a permanent position will be demanding, as he will compete with established players such as Julio Pacheco and Miguel Rodríguez for roles at second base and shortstop. Additionally, Brandon Montes is a strong contender for the shortstop position. Camou’s performance in the upcoming regional tournament will be crucial in determining his long-term future with the Indios de Ciudad Juárez.

The addition of Camou underscores the Indios’ commitment to strengthening their squad with talented players as they prepare for the rigorous demands of the next season and their pursuit of another championship.
