“Infinite Reality” Captures the Essence of Mexico City: Mark Powell’s Exhibition Opens at MAF

As part of FotoSeptiembre, this collection features 57 images that capture spontaneous moments of life on the streets of the capital, showcasing unexpected encounters and scenes that reflect the city’s distinctive rhythm.
A Photographer’s Deep Connection with Mexico City
During the inauguration, Mark Powell recounted his first arrival in Mexico in 1988, spending his initial months primarily exploring the Historic Center. Powell, a native of Decatur, Illinois, has resided and worked in Mexico since 2003, a period during which he developed a profound connection with the country and, particularly, with Mexico City.
The photographs in “Infinite Reality” aim to highlight the often-overlooked details of daily life in the capital: the gestures, the characters, the chance encounters, and the situations that unfold on its bustling streets. Powell’s work invites viewers to rediscover the familiar, revealing the beauty and complexity hidden within the everyday.

The exhibition is located on the second floor of the Museum of Photography Archive (MAF) and will remain open throughout September 2026, marking the conclusion of the month’s exhibition program.
