Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar Delivers Two Parks in Southern Juárez with 9 Million Peso Investment

Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico – March 29, 2026 – Mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar led the inauguration of two new public parks in the southern part of Ciudad Juárez, marking a significant investment of approximately 9 million pesos. These community-requested spaces aim to enhance the quality of life for residents in the Sierra Vista and Senderos de Oriente neighborhoods.

The newly delivered parks, named “Los Marcianos” in Sierra Vista and another unnamed park in Senderos de Oriente, saw active participation from the local community in defining the scope of the works. Mayor Pérez Cuéllar emphasized the importance of these spaces for youth development and overall community well-being.

Community-Driven Development and Significant Investment

During the inauguration ceremony, the Mayor announced that a total of five parks were opened, underscoring a collaborative effort with the Mexican Federal Government. He highlighted the valuable input from young people in shaping the improvements, recognizing their role in creating environments that foster growth and health.

The municipal administration is committed to continuing initiatives that positively impact the population’s quality of life, working in coordination with various levels of government.

María Antonieta Mendoza Mendoza, the General Director of Citizen Attention, provided specific financial details for the projects. The Sierra Vista park received an investment exceeding 4 million pesos, while the Senderos de Oriente park saw an investment of nearly 5 million pesos. She explained that residents in both areas actively organized to decide on the type of infrastructure they desired for their neighborhoods.

Funding for these projects primarily came from the Federal Government through Sedatu, with additional support from the Municipality. This municipal contribution included essential services such as lighting repair, signage, and other necessary supplies to ensure the parks were fully equipped and functional.

Key Officials Attend Inauguration

The inauguration events were attended by several prominent officials, demonstrating the collaborative nature of these community projects. Attendees included Areli Zarai Rojas Rivera, Coordinator of Strategies and Analysis for Social Crime Prevention and Social Fabric Reconstruction; Beatriz Anselma Meza Peñuelas, Sedatu’s representative in Chihuahua; Ana Carmen Estrada García, the Municipal Trustee; César Tapia, Director of Public Services; and Hugo Vallejo Quintana, Director of Social Development.

Looking Ahead: Continued Commitment to Public Spaces

These park inaugurations are part of a broader strategy by the municipal government to invest in public infrastructure that directly benefits residents. The emphasis on community involvement ensures that the projects meet the specific needs and desires of the people they serve. The Mayor’s office reiterated its commitment to sustained efforts in urban development and community engagement, promising further initiatives that will enhance public spaces and improve the living conditions across Ciudad Juárez.

The successful completion of these parks serves as a testament to effective collaboration between local government, federal agencies, and community members, setting a precedent for future urban development projects in the region.

These new parks are expected to become vibrant centers for recreation, social interaction, and community events, contributing significantly to the social fabric of southern Ciudad Juárez.
