Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico – June 15, 2026 – A significant police operation was launched in Ciudad Juarez, leading to the dismantling of a criminal cell, 21 raids, and the arrest of 15 alleged criminals. This mega-operation was initiated following extensive investigations and the murder of a high-priority criminal target, Hugo Hernández Luna, known as “El Mulato.”

Murder of “El Mulato” Triggers Extensive Investigation

Gilberto Loya, Secretary of Public Security for the State, reported that the homicide of “El Mulato” prompted a comprehensive investigation, which included the review of over two thousand hours of video footage from the Centinela Platform. “El Mulato” was found deceased on March 13, 2026, after being reported kidnapped on January 23, 2026. His body was found calcined in a canal near Juan Pablo II and Francisco Villarreal Torres boulevards. He was identified as a leader of “La Línea” criminal group and was considered a primary target by authorities.

Pattern Detection Leads to Breakthroughs

Loya disclosed that a series of eight homicides and kidnappings revealed consistent patterns across four investigation files at the State Attorney General’s Office. Investigators successfully linked vehicles, residences, mobility patterns, operational zones, and individuals involved in these eight criminal events. These investigations also included tracking the murder of Gustavo Enrique R. G., another individual identified as a member of “La Línea” group.

Operation Details: Raids and Arrests

The mega-operation involved 21 house searches and resulted in the apprehension of 15 alleged criminals. This concerted effort aimed at disrupting the activities of the criminal cell responsible for the recent wave of violence in the city. The authorities have not yet released the specific charges against the arrested individuals, but it is understood that they are connected to the homicides and kidnappings under investigation.

Community Impact and Future Actions

The operation underscores the commitment of state authorities to address organized crime and enhance public safety in Ciudad Juarez. The use of advanced surveillance technology, such as the Centinela Platform, proved crucial in identifying patterns and connecting various criminal incidents. The Secretary of Public Security emphasized that such operations are vital for maintaining order and bringing perpetrators of violent crimes to justice.

Further details regarding the ongoing investigations and potential future operations are expected to be released as the cases progress. The authorities continue to urge citizens to report any suspicious activities to help combat crime in the region.
