Meliá Returns to Mexico City with Innside Roma Norte Hotel
Mexico City, May 11 – Meliá Hotels International is making a significant return to Mexico City with the planned opening of the Innside Mexico Roma Norte hotel on June 8th. Located in one of the city’s most culturally, gastronomically, and socially vibrant neighborhoods, this 91-room establishment will be the group’s first hotel in the Mexican capital and its ninth in the country.
Strategic Expansion in a Growing Market
The launch of Innside Mexico Roma Norte underscores Meliá’s strategy to strengthen its presence in key growth markets across the Americas. Mexico has become a crucial market for the group, now ranking as its second-largest by revenue and employee volume. Meliá already operates in popular Mexican destinations such as Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, Cozumel, Puerto Vallarta, and Los Cabos.
The new hotel is strategically positioned to capitalize on the increasing trend of ‘bleisure’ travel, which combines business and leisure. Meliá recognizes that Mexico City’s dynamic business environment, coupled with its rich cultural, culinary, and social offerings, encourages longer stays and a deeper engagement with the destination.

Innside Mexico Roma Norte has been designed to seamlessly integrate hospitality with urban living, emphasizing the active use of its common areas. Amenities will include a rooftop restaurant and bar, a gymnasium, meeting rooms, and a lobby with a bar and terrace. These facilities are intended to support various uses within the hotel, from work to socializing or relaxation, aligning with the needs of guests balancing professional obligations and leisure time.
The hotel will also feature a program of activities linked to the history, culture, and artists that define Mexico City’s contemporary identity. Onirius Hospitality Advisors, a development advisory firm managing the property’s assets, highlights the evolution of the urban hotel model in Mexico. The company is overseeing the hotel’s opening and project execution. Innside Mexico Roma Norte is a reflection of that evolution.”
Further Expansion Plans in Mexico
The arrival of the Innside brand in Mexico City is part of Meliá’s broader expansion efforts in the country. The chain plans to open Zel Cozumel this year and recently completed the reopening of Paradisus Cancún, following a renovation aimed at elevating its luxury experiential offering.
In the coming years, the group will continue to expand its presence in Mexico with the opening of its first hotel in San Miguel de Allende, which will operate under the ME by Meliá brand. These additions demonstrate Meliá’s strategy to combine its presence in established vacation destinations with a greater focus on urban and cultural hubs.
