On October 15 in Mexico City, Metrobús announced that Line 2 will extend its Friday and Saturday service until 1:00 AM, starting this Friday, October 17. This change applies to the entire Tacubaya-Tepalcates route and aims to provide riders in the western and eastern parts of the capital with more late-night travel options.

What changes on Line 2 this weekend?

Metrobús reported that regular service will continue from 4:30 AM to midnight. During the new late-night hours, buses will run at intervals of approximately 10 minutes. The extended service covers the full route connecting Tacubaya and Tepalcates, with no changes to the stops.

Service frequency during extended hours

The agency has set a 10-minute frequency during the extension to 1:00 AM, which balances overnight demand with safety. Passengers should plan for slightly longer transfer times compared to daytime service.

When do the last buses leave Tacubaya and Tepalcates?

The final buses will depart from both terminals at 1:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays. Travelers on the east-west route should plan their trips in advance, particularly if they need to make late connections or get to places outside the Metrobús corridor.

Start date and days of operation

The new late-night schedule takes effect on Friday, October 17, and will be active on Fridays and Saturdays. During all other times, Line 2 will follow its regular schedule.

Will fares or payment methods change?

Fares and payment methods will not change. The cost will remain six pesos per trip. Riders can pay with their Integrated Mobility Card, contactless bank cards, or compatible smart devices like watches and phones that use NFC technology.

How does this compare to Line 1’s extended hours?

This makes Line 2 the second Metrobús route to offer weekend service until 1:00 AM. Since September 12, Line 1 services on the Indios Verdes-El Caminero and Indios Verdes-Insurgentes routes have also been running until 1:00 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, offering more late-night choices along Insurgentes Avenue.

Who benefits and why it matters

Line 2 connects important areas from Tacubaya to Tepalcates, which helps workers, students, and people enjoying the city’s nightlife by offering them additional late-night trips and more predictable connections across Mexico City.

Where to find updated schedules

Metrobús advised riders to check the updated schedules on its official website and also confirmed the change in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on October 15. To get the most current information, passengers should consult these official sources and plan for extra time if they intend to catch the last buses at 1:00 AM.
