Mexico City Congress Reports on Two Commission Agreements
Mexico City, August 5 – The Mexico City Congress announced on Wednesday two significant agreements: one pertaining to the “2026 Parliament of Persons with Disabilities” and another concerning the “2026 Parliament of Indigenous Peoples and Original Neighborhoods and Indigenous Communities.” These announcements were made during a virtual session of the Permanent Commission, as reported by the Board of Directors.
The first agreement, presented by the United Commissions for Human Rights and Inclusion, Social Welfare, and Enforceability of Social Rights, addresses modifications to the calendar and the list of participants for the Parliament of Persons with Disabilities. Initially, 32 registrations were received between July 1 and 24. Following a thorough review of each application, 30 individuals were found to meet the necessary requirements. These selected participants will be duly informed and convened by the Commission.
Originally, the activities for the Parliament of Persons with Disabilities were scheduled for August 6 and 7. However, it was decided to advance these dates to Wednesday, August 5, and Thursday, August 6. This adjustment was made to ensure the proper development of parliamentary work, avoid conflicts with other previously scheduled institutional activities, and guarantee that the Parliament proceeds under conditions conducive to the effective participation of the chosen individuals.
The second agreement, put forth by the Commission for Indigenous Peoples and Original Neighborhoods, Resident Indigenous Communities, and Afro-Mexican Communities, outlines the list of 66 individuals who will form the “2026 Parliament of Indigenous Peoples and Original Neighborhoods and Indigenous Communities.” This Parliament is slated to take place from August 7 to August 13 at the Donceles Legislative Precinct.
