Mexico City, March 21, 2026 – With only 82 days until the start of the FIFA World Cup 2026, Mexico City’s taxi drivers are intensifying their professionalization and modernization efforts. The goal is to offer high-quality service and become the primary point of contact for millions of tourists arriving in the capital.
“Big Heart Host” Campaign Launched
As part of these initiatives, a massive placement of “Big Heart Host” campaign distinctive badges is taking place this Saturday, March 21. These badges will identify trained operators committed to providing quality service.
Hugo Flores Sánchez, CEO of Consejo TX and ConoTaxi, stated that the guild has driven a profound transformation through training programs in coordination with the Mexico City Ministry of Tourism. These programs focus on hospitality, tourism marketing, and attention to vulnerable sectors.
In an institutional message, Alejandra Frausto Guerrero, head of the Ministry of Tourism, acknowledged the guild’s efforts and highlighted that such initiatives strengthen the professionalization of those who represent the first contact with visitors.
Taxi Drivers as City Ambassadors
During a joint statement, representatives of the sector emphasized that operators seek to move beyond the traditional service image to assume a leading role in the experience of visitors arriving in the capital. “Today we understand that it is not just about transporting passengers, but about generating a service experience,” they affirmed.
Roberto Rosales Núñez, president of Consejo TX, stressed that taxi drivers are called to become “ambassadors” of the city, as they will be the first contact many tourists have upon arrival. “The person who receives the visitor is not an official, it is a taxi driver. That is why we assume the responsibility of representing Mexico City with professionalism, knowledge, and dignified treatment,” he expressed.
Both guild leaders agreed that the training has gone beyond traditional courses, incorporating strategies to eradicate citizen distrust and improve service perception. “We represent Mexico and we want every visitor to take away the image of a safe, warm, and efficient service,” they concluded.
Addressing Security Concerns and Future Plans
However, they acknowledged that challenges persist in terms of security and trust. To address this, they announced that they are working on a digital platform that will allow users to verify unit and driver data in real-time. This tool will be supported by the Mexico City Ministry of Mobility.
Furthermore, they reiterated their support for the Head of Government, Clara Brugada Molina, to consolidate the capital as one of the best World Cup venues. The guild also thanked the institutional support and emphasized that this transformation is not only a response to the sporting event but also a long-term vision to dignify the service and improve the working conditions of operators.
