Mexico City, December 23, 2025 – Mexico City is set to become a pivotal hub for clean energy development in Latin America and the Caribbean, as it prepares to host the 12th Geothermal Congress for Latin America and the Caribbean (GEOLAC 2026) alongside the launch of the first Clean Firm Power (CFP) LATAM Summit in February 2026. This dual event will provide a strategic platform for advancing firm and sustainable energy solutions across the region.

GEOLAC 2026: A Decade of Geothermal Leadership

For 12 years, GEOLAC has been the premier gathering for the Latin American geothermal market, uniting key stakeholders from public, private, and multilateral sectors. The 2026 edition, co-organized by the World Bank and ESMAP, will convene more than 250 leaders at the Hilton Mexico City Reforma to accelerate geothermal deployment.

The timing of this event is particularly significant, given Mexico’s recent announcement to open its national geothermal development to international private sector participation. This move creates new avenues for investment and collaboration, while other regional countries demonstrate notable progress and renewed momentum in geothermal projects. The organizers emphasize, “Now is the time.”

Introducing the Clean Firm Power LATAM Summit

Coinciding with GEOLAC 2026, the inaugural Clean Firm Power LATAM Summit (CFP-LATAM) will address the critical role of clean and firm energy in meeting the escalating demands of the digital economy. This includes the energy needs driven by artificial intelligence, data centers, and industrial electrification.

The events are scheduled as follows:

  • February 11, 2026: Clean Firm Power LATAM Summit (CFP-LATAM)
  • February 12, 2026: 12th GEOLAC

Both conferences will take place at the Hilton Mexico City Reforma, providing a central and accessible venue for participants.

A Comprehensive Look at Clean Energy

While GEOLAC remains exclusively focused on geothermal energy, CFP-LATAM offers a broader perspective on clean firm power. This combined approach ensures that attendees gain a comprehensive understanding of the future of clean and firm energy in Latin America.

PiensaGeotermia, an official communications partner for GEOLAC 2026, in collaboration with ThinkGeoEnergy, is offering a 10% discount on registration for their audience. Interested individuals can request their discount code by emailing [email protected].

Participants are encouraged to attend GEOLAC 2026 to engage with the region’s leading geothermal event, or to combine it with CFP-LATAM for an all-encompassing view of Latin America’s clean and firm energy landscape.
