Mitzy Naomi Hernández Disappears After Dinner in Tláhuac, Mexico City
Mexico City, January 8 – Mitzy Naomi Hernández Barrera, a 19-year-old woman, has been reported missing after she went out to dinner with a friend in the Tláhuac borough of Mexico City. Her family is actively seeking public assistance in her search, expressing grave concerns for her well-being.
According to initial reports, Mitzy Naomi was last seen on January 3 in the Ampliación Selene neighborhood of San Francisco Tlaltenco. She had informed her family that she was meeting a friend for dinner.
Family’s Urgent Plea and Community Action
“She told us she was going to have dinner with a friend,” stated Israel Hernández, Mitzy’s father, to N+. Following her disappearance, her family promptly filed a missing person report and initiated a search campaign within their community and across social media platforms.
In response to the lack of progress, relatives and supporters of Mitzy Naomi staged a protest on Thursday, blocking Avenida Tláhuac near Paso Conejo in the Tlaltenco neighborhood. They demanded that authorities expedite the investigation into her whereabouts. Chants of “Not one more” and “Today it’s Mitzy, tomorrow it could be anyone” resonated through the main thoroughfare, aiming to draw public attention to the case.
The Friend’s Account and the Investigation
Mitzy’s father confirmed that they know the friend with whom she went to dinner. This friend has expressed willingness to cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation. The friend’s account suggests that after their dinner, he drove Mitzy home. Subsequently, Mitzy reportedly asked him to take her to another location where she intended to meet someone else. This was the last time the friend saw her.
“She went to dinner, came back, and asked that friend to take her somewhere. We have already contacted the person who took her, and he is fully willing to declare where he dropped her off,” her father explained.
Description and Distinguishing Features
Mitzy Naomi is 19 years old. On the day of her disappearance, she was wearing a wine-colored jacket, dark denim pants, black sneakers, and a red and blue checkered handbag. Her distinguishing features include a mole on her right eye and a tattoo on her arm near her wrist, which depicts a flower with a heart and the letter ‘A’.
Police Intervention and Family’s Ultimatum
Following several hours of protest, agents from the CDMX Attorney General’s Office and the Public Ministry met with Mitzy’s father, leading to the temporary cessation of the demonstration. However, the family has issued a stern warning: if there are no favorable results in the investigation, they will resume blocking roads until Mitzy Naomi Hernández Barrera is found alive.
This case highlights the ongoing concerns about disappearances in Mexico City and the urgent need for effective response mechanisms from authorities.
