Municipal Employees to Clean Up Ciudad Juárez Neighborhoods
Ciudad Juárez, April 28, 2026 – On the upcoming Saturday, May 9th, employees from numerous municipal departments will undertake a comprehensive clean-up of the streets of Ciudad Juárez. This initiative is a component of the broader programs “Juárez Amanece Limpio” (Juárez Wakes Up Clean), “Atención a las Causas” (Attention to Causes), and “Ciudad Juárez por la Paz” (Ciudad Juárez for Peace).
The clean-up effort, scheduled to commence on May 9th, will involve personnel from a wide array of municipal entities. Participating departments include Education, Commercial Regulation, Urban Development, Treasury, the Municipal Public Security Secretariat (SSPM), and the Municipal Operator of Juárez Parking Lots (OMEJ).
Additionally, the clean-up will see the involvement of city council members (regidores), the Sindatura, the Southeaster Citizen Attention office, the Municipal Institute for Culture of Juárez (Ipacult), and the City Secretary’s office. The City Secretary’s office will contribute staff from its Directorate of Government, Human Rights, Civic Justice, the National System for the Integral Protection of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents (Sipinna), and the Legal Directorate.
The designated areas for this extensive clean-up operation span across several key neighborhoods within Ciudad Juárez. These include Las Almeras, Puente El Bravo, Terranova, Villas del Sur, Valle Los Olivos, and Puente Alto. Furthermore, the teams will focus their efforts on Villa Residencial del Real I and Villa Residencial II, Los Arcos, and Colonial del Sur.
In preparation for the clean-up day, municipal employees have been actively engaging with local communities. They have distributed informational flyers in the aforementioned neighborhoods, as well as in churches, schools, and sports clubs. The purpose of these distributions is to inform residents about the upcoming clean-up drive and encourage their participation and cooperation.
This initiative is part of a larger, ongoing commitment by the municipal administration. Every month, on a designated Saturday, the entire municipal administration deploys its staff to clean a specific set of neighborhoods across the city. This systematic approach aims to cover a total of 110 neighborhoods throughout the year, with operations commencing in February and concluding in December. Each month, approximately 10 neighborhoods benefit from these concerted clean-up efforts.
