New Educational Infrastructure Benefits 205 Students in Ciudad Juárez

Ciudad Juárez, July 14, 2026 – The State Government, through the State DIF, officially opened new facilities at the Leona Vicario School No. 2563 in Ciudad Juárez. This significant infrastructure project will accommodate students ranging from preschool to high school levels, marking a crucial step in enhancing educational provisions in the region.

The inauguration ceremony was led by the president of the State DIF, María Eugenia Galván, and the Secretary of Education and Sport (SEyD), Francisco Hugo Gutiérrez Dávila. The event highlighted the collaborative efforts of various government entities to bring this project to fruition.

Significant Investment for Educational Development

During his address, Gutiérrez Dávila announced that the project represents an investment exceeding 17 million 487 thousand 612 pesos. This substantial funding directly benefits 205 children and adolescents under the guardianship of the State, providing them with improved learning environments.

He emphasized that this initiative aligns with the humanist vision promoted by the State Government, which seeks to improve developmental opportunities for children and youth in Chihuahua. The new spaces are designed to foster comprehensive learning and integral formation, ensuring a supportive educational atmosphere.

Enhanced Facilities for Holistic Learning

The intervention included several key improvements and additions to the school’s infrastructure. Among these are a newly adapted dining area for teaching and administrative staff, a versatile multipurpose room, modern restrooms for middle and high school students, a dedicated computer lab, a science laboratory, and a classroom specifically designed for the upper secondary level.

Gutiérrez Dávila commended the coordinated efforts between the State DIF, the SEyD, and the Ichife (Chihuahua Institute of Physical Educational Infrastructure) for their role in realizing this project. He noted that their collaboration was instrumental in strengthening educational support for vulnerable children and adolescents.

A Conducive Environment for Academic and Personal Growth

María Eugenia Galván, president of the State DIF, reiterated that the new infrastructure offers students an environment highly conducive to their academic, personal, and social development. She detailed that the school provides comprehensive support services, including psychological care, social work, and nursing services. Additionally, students will benefit from a range of sports, cultural, and recreational activities, all designed to contribute to their holistic formation.

Galván further added that this project is strongly backed by the State Government and forms an integral part of ongoing efforts to ensure access to quality education for those who need it most. The Leona Vicario School, which caters to students from preschool to high school, annually receives over 7 million 255 thousand pesos from the State DIF for its operational expenses.

Official Tour of the New Installations

Following the inauguration, authorities conducted a comprehensive tour of the new facilities. This provided them with a firsthand look at the upgraded infrastructure, which is expected to significantly contribute to the academic and personal growth of the students. The tour underscored the commitment of the authorities to monitor and support the educational well-being of the beneficiaries.

Distinguished guests present at the event included Gilberto Baeza Mendoza, Secretary of Health; Iván Ortega Ornelas, General Director of the Chihuahua Institute of Physical Educational Infrastructure (Ichife); and Luis Carlos Aragón Carrasco, Director of the school.

The inauguration of these facilities marks a significant milestone in educational development in Ciudad Juárez, promising a brighter future for the students of the Leona Vicario School.
