Private Security Guard Fires at Construction Workers, Mistaking Them for Thieves in Ciudad Juárez
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, February 11, 2026 – A private security guard was arrested in Ciudad Juárez yesterday after he opened fire on employees of a construction company, mistaking them for thieves during a high-speed chase. The incident, which began with the recovery of a stolen vehicle, led to the apprehension of the guard and the seizure of his firearm.
The events unfolded in the intersection of Miguel de la Madrid and Lote Bravo. The security guard, identified as an escort, was dispatched to recover a stolen personnel transport truck that had been located using a geolocator. The truck had been reported stolen earlier that morning.
Pursuit and Shooting
According to preliminary information, after successfully recovering the stolen truck, the guard was informed that the alleged perpetrators had fled in a gray pickup truck. Upon spotting a vehicle matching this description, the guard initiated a pursuit. During the chase, he repeatedly fired his 9mm caliber weapon at the pickup, striking its doors.
The occupants of the attacked vehicle, who were later identified as construction workers, immediately called emergency services for help while attempting to evade their pursuer. The pursuit extended along Miguel de la Madrid Avenue, continued onto Independencia Boulevard, then Manuel Talamás Camandari Boulevard, and finally concluded at the intersection with the Pan-American highway, where municipal police intercepted the vehicles.
Arrest and Investigation
At the scene, police officers detained the security guard and confiscated his 9mm firearm. The construction workers’ pickup truck was also secured, showing two bullet impacts. The affected workers reported that after the vehicles were stopped, the guard allegedly struck them with the butt of his weapon.
The detained guard is expected to be handed over to the State Attorney General’s Office in the coming hours. He faces charges of attempted homicide and other related offenses that may arise from the investigation.
