Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua – In a significant move towards sustainability and operational efficiency, Fundación Sempra Infraestructura has officially inaugurated a solar panel system at the Cruz Roja Mexicana Centenario Medical Unit in Ciudad Juárez. The project, backed by an investment exceeding 528,000 pesos, aims to drastically cut electricity costs and foster a positive environmental impact.
Significant Savings and Enhanced Services
The Centenario Medical Unit typically incurs an average monthly electricity bill of 12,000 pesos, accumulating to approximately 144,000 pesos annually. The newly installed photovoltaic system, comprising 58 600W solar panels, a 30kW TL3 S inverter, specialized infrastructure, and a digital monitoring system, is projected to substantially reduce conventional electricity consumption. This financial saving will free up vital resources, enabling the Red Cross to bolster its medical services, pre-hospital care, acquisition of supplies, equipment maintenance, and support for vulnerable patients.
Environmental Benefits and Corporate Responsibility
Beyond the financial advantages, the initiative delivers considerable environmental benefits by reducing the carbon footprint through the adoption of clean, renewable energy. This transition aligns with modern environmental responsibility standards, contributing to a reduction in polluting emissions.
During the inauguration event, César Chávez, Community Management Manager at Sempra Infraestructura, emphasized the company’s commitment to the region. “Chihuahua is a state that has opened its doors to us for developing strategic infrastructure, from a solar park to natural gas pipeline networks. For those of us at Sempra Infraestructura, our presence extends beyond building energy projects; it involves actively engaging with the communities we belong to. One way we do this is by supporting institutions like the Red Cross, because strengthening their infrastructure creates a multiplier effect that directly impacts the people they serve and care for every day in Ciudad Juárez.”
A Dual Impact for the Community
Diego Franco, Manager of Fundación Sempra Infraestructura, highlighted the project’s dual impact: “Today, we are not just turning on solar panels; we are igniting an opportunity for the Mexican Red Cross to strengthen its capacity to provide care and continue safeguarding the lives and health of more Juarense families. This energy generates a dual benefit: it protects the environment, and by reducing conventional electricity consumption and the monthly energy expenditure, it frees up resources that can be allocated to what is truly important – the well-being of people.”
Future Sustainable Projects for Chihuahua
C.P. Óscar Armando Corral Pérez, Delegate of the Mexican Red Cross in the state of Chihuahua, noted that the installation at the Centenario Medical Unit marks the first in a series of sustainable energy projects that Fundación Sempra Infraestructura and the Mexican Red Cross plan to develop across the state. “We want, and it is part of our objectives, to consolidate environmental sustainability under a financial efficiency strategy that directly impacts the quality and reach of our institution.”
The Municipal President of Ciudad Juárez, Lic. Cruz Pérez Cuellar, expressed gratitude to Sempra Infraestructura for its commitment to social responsibility. “With this project, they not only help the Mexican Red Cross but also Ciudad Juárez, given the energy challenges facing the border. We are a very large city, and this helps us provide clean energy to Juárez.”
This initiative underscores a collaborative effort to enhance public services, promote sustainable practices, and contribute to the overall well-being of the Ciudad Juárez community.
