Separatist March for 8M in Ciudad Juárez: Route and Demands Announced
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico, February 21, 2026 – Feminist collectives in Ciudad Juárez have announced a separatist march for International Women’s Day (8M) on Sunday, March 8, 2026. The event aims to provide a safe, autonomous, and violence-free environment for women to organize and raise their voices against gender violence in the border region. The organizing committee emphasizes that the separatist nature of the march is a political stance, not an act of discrimination, designed to foster a supportive and listening space for those who have experienced various forms of violence.
March Route and Schedule
The gathering point for the march will be San Lorenzo Plaza, located at the intersection of Tecnológico Avenue and Valle de Juárez Avenue. Participants are asked to arrive by 11:30 AM, with the march officially commencing at 12:00 PM. The procession will follow a specific route along Paseo Triunfo de la República Avenue, culminating at the Monument to the Mother in Borunda Park.
“Aggressors Clothesline” to Highlight Testimonies
Upon the conclusion of the march, an “aggressors clothesline” will be set up. Attendees are encouraged to bring printed images and testimonies of aggressors or to send them in advance via direct message to the organizing committee for preparation and display at the event. This initiative seeks to publicly denounce perpetrators of violence against women.
Key Demands and Inclusivity
The public statement at the end of the march will address various forms of aggression faced by women, including vicarious, economic, psychological, physical, and obstetric violence. Organizers underscore that the mobilization aims to shed light on these issues and demand institutional responses.
The collectives have clarified that children under 12 years of age are welcome, recognizing the importance of upbringing and accompaniment in protest. Furthermore, women, children, and girls with neurodivergence, disabilities, or special needs are also encouraged to participate, highlighting the commitment to inclusivity within the movement.
A central demand of the movement in Ciudad Juárez is to ensure access to sexual and reproductive health, including safe and free abortion in public health systems within the state.
Safety Measures and Support Services
To enhance the safety of the contingent, dedicated commissions will be responsible for safeguarding the route, providing psychological support, and offering medical assistance to those in need. These measures are designed to cultivate an atmosphere of trust and mutual support among participants.
Additionally, a transportation service called SororoBus will be available, transporting participants from the Las Torres sector to the meeting point and back. The service, which includes a round trip, a bottle of water, and an identification badge, will have a recovery cost of 80 pesos. Interested individuals must reserve their spot through the official social media page. Departures for the Benito Juárez monument are scheduled for 11:15 AM, with an advised arrival time of 10:30 AM to facilitate organization.
Organizing Collectives
The mobilization is organized by several feminist collectives, including:
