Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua – The State Ecology Directorate has honored 74 companies in Ciudad Juárez for their commitment to environmental best practices, acknowledging their efforts in reducing resource consumption and waste emissions. This recognition falls under the 2025-2026 Voluntary Environmental Compliance and Best Environmental Practices Program (Procavech), administered by the Secretariat of Urban Development and Ecology (Sedue).
State Ecology Director Highlights Program’s Impact
Víctor Manuel Vega, Director of Ecology for the State Government, led the award ceremony, emphasizing the program’s importance and fostering collaboration with participating businesses. “This is a result of all the companies that participate. We classify companies into gold, silver, and bronze levels. The goal is compliance, but we know there are companies that go beyond expectations, and that helps our city and state grow with healthy competition,” Vega explained.
Program Participation and Award Categories
The recently concluded edition of Procavech received 84 applications, with 35 of these companies located in Ciudad Juárez. The recognized companies were categorized based on their level of environmental compliance:
- Bronze: 37 companies
- Silver: 34 companies
- Gold: 3 companies (two of which are from Juárez)
These best practices include the efficient use and reduction of energy, waste, and water, all aimed at mitigating environmental impact.
Significant Environmental Savings Achieved
Vega detailed the impressive environmental achievements of the participating companies. “Of the 74 companies that obtained the Procavech, they saved 15 million gigawatts annually, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of between five to eight million average homes,” he stated.
Collectively, the evaluated companies also managed to reduce 6,353.95 tons of CO2 equivalent over one year. This reduction is comparable to the amount of CO2 absorbed by 105,000 trees.
Support for Non-Compliant Companies
For companies that did not meet the program’s accreditation standards, Vega assured that the Secretariat would provide support and guidance. This assistance aims to help them improve their production processes and implement better environmental practices in the future.

The Procavech program underscores the state’s commitment to promoting sustainable development and encouraging corporate social responsibility.
