SUPERISSSTE and Firefighters Join Forces for Enhanced Safety in CDMX

Mexico City, March 25 – SUPERISSSTE stores in Mexico City will significantly bolster their security and fire prevention protocols through a newly signed agreement with the Heroic Fire Department of Mexico City. This collaboration marks a pivotal step towards ensuring optimal safety conditions for both employees and the thousands of visitors across SUPERISSSTE’s commercial network and other ISSSTE facilities.

Comprehensive Strategy for Civil Protection

The agreement, formalized on March 24, 2026, initiates a new era in safety and prevention for SUPERISSSTE. A key immediate action stemming from this partnership is the development of a specialized technical report focused on fire prevention, which will encompass all stores within the chain. This measure underscores the commitment to establishing robust safety standards at every point of sale, with a particular emphasis on protecting women and vulnerable groups.

Dunia Ludlow, Director of SUPERISSSTE stores, highlighted that while the initial phase will target commercial establishments, the ultimate goal is to extend these safety initiatives to other critical ISSSTE properties, including clinics, hospitals, and daycare centers. Ludlow stated, “The core of this collaboration is to guarantee the safety of our customers and employees.”

Training and Innovation at the Forefront

Beyond the initial fire prevention assessment, the agreement facilitates the development of joint projects, comprehensive training programs, and the promotion of self-protection strategies. This institutional collaboration aims to consolidate coordination mechanisms, ensuring that these vital initiatives reach a broader spectrum of ISSSTE’s facilities.

Juan Manuel Pérez Cova, General Director of the Mexico City Fire Department, underscored the significance of the agreement, stating, “It is very important to understand the risks that stores or establishments have.” He added that the Fire Department’s extensive experience with other commercial corporations would be leveraged to enhance the effectiveness of this new alliance. Pérez Cova emphasized the shared responsibility of institutions and society in fostering a culture of prevention.

Focus on Education, Science, and Technology

The initiative also encompasses educational, scientific, and technological training, alongside the promotion of innovations geared towards civil protection. Authorities present at the signing highlighted that a gender-sensitive approach and dedicated attention to priority sectors are central tenets of the agreement.

The agreement was signed by Dunia Ludlow Deloya, Silvia Alejandra Limón Carmona, Juan Manuel Pérez Cova, Pablo Ramírez Ávalos, and David Pérez Guzmán. All signatories concurred on the importance of creating secure environments for both users and staff, reinforcing SUPERISSSTE’s commitment to the well-being of Mexican families.

This collaboration between SUPERISSSTE and the Heroic Fire Department represents a significant advancement in consolidating protected environments, aiming to integrate preventive safety into the daily operations of the store network and beyond.
