The State Attorney General’s Office announced that a minor, identified by the initials L. J. T. M., has been formally charged with aggravated kidnapping and possession of firearms and cartridges exclusively for the use of the Army, Navy, and National Air Force. These alleged crimes occurred in Ciudad Juárez.

Details of the Accusations

Evidence presented by the Public Ministry agent established the minor’s probable participation in incidents that occurred on February 14th of this year at the Ciudad Juárez airport. In this incident, another individual allegedly abducted a victim and transported them to a residence in the Portal del Roble II neighborhood.

Similarly, on February 20th, another kidnapping took place at the bus station located on Óscar Flores Boulevard. In this case, a victim was reportedly abducted by another person and taken to a different residence, also in the Portal del Roble II neighborhood, where the minor was allegedly responsible for guarding and supervising the victims.

The accused minor is believed to have participated in these acts with the aim of receiving payment for ransom, which was demanded from the victims’ families.

Arrest and Seizure of Weapons

The minor was apprehended in flagrante delicto on February 23rd by elements of the State Public Security Secretariat. During the arrest, authorities seized:

  • A rifle-type firearm, caliber 5.569 mm stamped
  • A 5.56 caliber weapon that is not in firing condition
  • A magazine loaded with 15 .223 caliber cartridges

The Control Judge of the Bravos Judicial District considered the presented evidence sufficient to determine the legal status of the accused, granting a two-month period for further complementary investigation.

Context of Crime in Ciudad Juárez

This case highlights ongoing concerns regarding security and criminal activity in Ciudad Juárez. The involvement of minors in serious crimes such as kidnapping and the possession of high-caliber weapons underscores the complex challenges faced by authorities in the region.

The State Attorney General’s Office has reiterated its commitment to combating organized crime and ensuring the safety of citizens. Authorities continue to investigate potential links to larger criminal networks and to identify other individuals involved in these kidnappings.

Legal Proceedings and Future Steps

The two-month period for complementary investigation will allow prosecutors to gather additional evidence, interview more witnesses, and consolidate their case against the minor. At the conclusion of this period, further legal proceedings will determine the extent of the minor’s involvement and the appropriate legal consequences.

The case has drawn significant attention from the local community, emphasizing the public’s demand for justice and effective measures to prevent such crimes. The authorities have urged anyone with information related to these incidents or other criminal activities to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigations.
