Mexico City, March 9 – The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX) has achieved the formal processing of two men, Antonio “N” and Hugo “N”, who were arrested last February with drugs and a firearm. They have since been linked to the homicide of a father and his minor son in the San Miguel neighborhood of Iztacalco, due to the concordance in ballistic evidence.
Suspects Remain in Preventative Detention
Authorities reported that both individuals remain in preventative detention and face charges of qualified homicide and drug dealing. According to reports from the capital’s prosecutor’s office, the investigation began after the victims were found lifeless in a van, an incident that prompted the deployment of experts and elements of the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC).
The official report indicates that Hugo “N” was carrying the secured weapon, which is exclusive to the armed forces. Consequently, the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) was also notified. Authorities specified that both individuals are held in the North Men’s Preventative Prison, where agents of the Investigative Police (PDI) executed the arrest warrants on February 25.
Arrest on Tláhuac Avenue
On February 22, 2026, elements of the Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) arrested Antonio “N” and Hugo “N” on Tláhuac Avenue. Officers reported that the implicated individuals were carrying various doses of narcotics and a firearm for the exclusive use of the army, which led to their immediate transfer to the Public Ministry. According to the capital’s prosecutor’s office, the possession of this weaponry proved crucial for the development of the investigation.
The capital’s prosecutor’s office noted that Hugo “N” was the one carrying the weapon for the exclusive use of the armed forces. Forensic personnel from the FGJCDMX conducted ballistic studies on the weapon seized after the arrest. The results showed matches with ballistic elements found inside a van where the bodies of the adult and the minor were discovered. This data allowed the prosecutor’s office to request arrest warrants for qualified homicide, which were granted and executed at the North prison. Authorities indicated that the double homicide in the San Miguel neighborhood, Iztacalco, occurred days before the arrest. The official report did not detail whether it was a long or short weapon.
Legal Proceedings Underway
On February 26, a control judge formally processed Antonio “N” and Hugo “N” for qualified homicide, imposing preventative detention and a three-month period for the closure of the complementary investigation. One day later, both were formally processed for crimes against health, in the modality of drug dealing, with an additional one-month period for the investigation.
The FGJCDMX reiterated that the investigation is being conducted in accordance with the principle of presumption of innocence and in adherence to the provisions of the National Code of Criminal Procedures. It reaffirmed its commitment to combating high-impact crimes, especially those affecting minors, and reported that investigations will continue until the case is clarified and justice is guaranteed to the victims and their families.
