FGR Secures Conviction Against Two for Fentanyl in Ciudad Juárez
Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico – April 13, 2026 – The Attorney General of the Republic (FGR) has obtained a condemnatory sentence against Manuela “N” and Caleb “N” after they were found guilty of health crimes, specifically possession with intent to distribute. The conviction stems from an operation in the Centro neighborhood of Ciudad Juárez.
Investigation Initiated by Anonymous Tip
The arrests were made following an anonymous tip that alerted authorities to illicit activities at a residence on Francisco I. Madero Street in the Centro neighborhood of this city. Responding to the report, elements of the State Investigative Agency (AEI) apprehended the now-sentenced individuals in possession of narcotics and materials for their distribution.
Seized Narcotics and Distribution Paraphernalia
During the operation, authorities secured a significant amount of illicit substances and related items:
- Methamphetamine hydrochloride: 472 grams and 2 milligrams.
- Fentanyl: 758 grams and 1 milligram.
- Various objects: A pipe and a box of Ziploc-type bags, indicative of drug distribution.
Sentencing Details
The Federal Public Ministry, assigned to the Specialized Regional Control Prosecutor’s Office (FECOR), presented sufficient evidence for the judge to issue the following resolution:
- Custodial sentence: 4 years, 5 months, and 10 days of imprisonment.
- Economic sanction: A fine equivalent to 90 Measurement and Update Units (UMAS).
This sentencing highlights the ongoing efforts by Mexican authorities to combat drug trafficking, particularly in border cities like Ciudad Juárez, which are often points of transit for illegal substances.
The case underscores the effectiveness of citizen cooperation through anonymous denunciations in assisting law enforcement agencies to disrupt criminal networks involved in drug distribution.
The FGR continues to work towards dismantling drug trafficking operations and ensuring that those responsible for health crimes are brought to justice, contributing to public safety and health in the region.
