Mexico City, February 22, 2026 – The Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) of Mexico City, Pablo Vázquez Camacho, led the graduation ceremony of 507 new police officers who are joining the ranks of the corporation, after successfully completing their training process at the Police University (UNIPOL).

507 New Officers Join SSC Ranks

During the official ceremony, it was announced that 282 men and 225 women, belonging to four generations of cadets, completed their academic and operational preparation. These include generations 295 and 297, with a Proximity Police profile; generation 296, with a Tactical Analyst and Investigator profile; and the seventh generation with a Penitentiary Police profile.

The new elements thus begin their police career with the mission of protecting the life, integrity, and patrimony of the inhabitants of the capital. This incorporation is a significant step in strengthening the security model of Mexico City.

Professionalization and Leadership Development

In addition to the new graduates, 106 elements are joining the Professional Career Service to strengthen the Emergency and Medical Rescue Squad (ERUM). Furthermore, 44 public servants concluded the Enabled Commanders course, which will allow them to exercise police command from a civilian position during their tenure in the institution. This initiative aims to enhance leadership capabilities within the police force.

Vázquez Camacho recognized the fundamental role of the Police University in the training and professionalization of personnel. He also thanked the work of the head of the Undersecretariat of Institutional Development, Rosario Novoa; the general coordinator of UNIPOL, Gabriel Reyes; as well as the body of instructors and the disciplinary team.

UNIPOL: A Space for Transformation

The Secretary pointed out that UNIPOL is not only an academic institution but also a space for transformation where the present and future of the corporation are forged, and where men and women turn their vocation into a way of life at the service of society. He also acknowledged the accompaniment of the graduates’ families, highlighting that behind every police badge there is a story of sacrifice and love.

Before family members and citizens, the new police officers received the uniform that accredits them as members of the SSC, a symbol, he said, of strength, commitment, and service, which they must wear with dignity, always acting with legality, objectivity, efficiency, professionalism, honesty, and respect for human rights.

Commitment to a Safer City

In his message, Vázquez Camacho recalled that current heroism translates into every life preserved, every young person kept away from violence, and every family that can live in peace. He also highlighted the support of the Head of Government, Clara Brugada Molina, who expressed her respect and gratitude for the trust placed in the Mexico City Police to advance the security strategy and peacebuilding.

Finally, he called on the graduates to distinguish themselves by their professionalism and integrity, and to reaffirm their commitment to citizenship every day to contribute to the construction of a safer, more just, and peaceful city. The Secretary emphasized that the new officers will find “the best city on the continent” as they embark on their duties.
