The Government of Mexico City (CDMX) has announced a 100% subsidy on the vehicle tenencia tax for 2026. This initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on residents, allowing eligible taxpayers to completely waive the tenencia tax by paying only the vehicle endorsement fee. The deadline to take advantage of this full discount is March 31, 2026.

How to Access the 100% Tenencia Discount

To qualify for the 100% tenencia tax discount, vehicle owners must meet specific criteria set by the Secretaría de Administración y Finanzas de Ciudad de México:

  • Eligibility: The measure applies to individuals and non-profit legal entities.
  • Vehicle Value Limit: The vehicle’s total value, including VAT, must not exceed 638,000 pesos. For motorcycles, the value limit is 250,000 pesos.
  • No Prior Debts: Owners must have a clean record regarding previous years’ tenencia payments.
  • Valid Circulation Card: The vehicle’s circulation card must be valid. If expired, owners must renew it and pay the corresponding fee.

The cost of the vehicle endorsement for 2026 is 760 pesos.
