Water Cuts in Iztacalco, Mexico City: Affected Neighborhoods and How to Request a Water Truck

The Mexico City Integral Water Management Secretariat (SEGIAGUA) has announced a two-day water cut affecting at least four neighborhoods in the Iztacalco borough. The cut, which began on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, is expected to last until Wednesday, January 21, 2026.

This interruption in service is due to repair work being carried out by SEGIAGUA’s technical team on the main switch of the Agricola Oriental 2 well, which supplies water to the Iztacalco borough.

Affected Neighborhoods in Iztacalco

Residents in the following neighborhoods should prepare for the lack of vital liquid:

  • San Pedro Iztacalco
  • Santiago Norte
  • Santiago Sur
  • San Francisco Xicaltongo

Recommendations for Residents

During a water cut, it is crucial to take proactive measures to mitigate its impact. Authorities recommend the following:

  • Store Clean Drinking Water: Keep potable water in covered containers for drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene.
  • Avoid Unnecessary Water Use: Conserve water by limiting activities that require large amounts of water.
  • Boil Water: If you suspect possible contamination, boil water before use.

How to Request a Free Water Truck in Mexico City

In case of need, residents can request a free water truck by calling the H2O Line at *426. This service also allows you to report other water-related issues, such as leaks, supply shortages, poor water quality, flooding, or damage to hydraulic infrastructure.

The process for requesting a water truck is as follows:

  1. Call *426: Your report will be registered and channeled to the C5 del Agua for attention.
  2. Receive a Folio: A tracking number will be generated for your request.
  3. Coordination with Brigades: Brigades will be coordinated to address the issue.

The Mexico City government aims to address visible leaks within 48 hours. The system also allows for surveillance cameras to monitor hydraulic infrastructure.
