Ciudad Juárez and CANIETI Sign Agreement to Remove and Reorganize Wiring

Ciudad Juárez, October 16, 2025 – In a significant step towards enhancing urban aesthetics and ensuring the orderly use of public spaces, the Government of Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, and the National Chamber of the Electronic, Telecommunications and Information Technologies Industry (CANIETI) signed a collaboration agreement this Thursday. This initiative aims to address the pervasive issue of disorganized aerial wiring throughout the city.

Municipal President Cruz Pérez Cuéllar highlighted that the disarray caused by aerial cables has been a long-standing complaint from citizens. He expressed confidence that, through the willingness of CANIETI and its member companies, this problem will finally be resolved. The Municipal Government has pledged full support to the participating companies to facilitate their work and contribute to the improvement of the urban environment.

Pérez Cuéllar also acknowledged the efforts of Councilman Alejandro Acosta Aviña, who has been a driving force behind this initiative since the beginning of the administration. He extended his appreciation to the General Directorate of Urban Development, led by Claudia Morales Medina, the Municipal Syndic, and the City Secretary for their involvement in reviewing the document.

Scope of Work and Expected Impact

Acosta Aviña, coordinator of the Urban Development Commission, emphasized that this agreement solidifies a governmental vision focused on building a safer, more orderly, and dignified city. The project will encompass 236 quadrants and 91 main thoroughfares, where disused wiring will be removed, active lines will be reorganized, and installations interfering with urban infrastructure will be corrected.

He further noted that these actions are part of the “Crusade for Change,” a comprehensive project designed to transform the image of Juárez through the active participation of both citizens and the business sector.

Gonzalo Martínez Pous, National Vice President of Telecommunications Services at CANIETI, commended the Municipal Government’s initiative in undertaking this joint effort. He stated that this collaboration positions Ciudad Juárez as the first city in northern Mexico to comprehensively address the organization of aerial wiring.

Martínez Pous underscored the involvement of various companies, including Megacable in the initial phase of the project. This participation will enable the removal of obsolete materials and enhance the quality of telecommunications services without disrupting connectivity for residents and businesses.

Alfredo Pacheco, General Director of CANIETI, affirmed that this agreement will facilitate coordinated actions between the government and service operators. The primary goals are to organize wiring, maintain clean public spaces, and guarantee continuous connectivity for the city’s inhabitants.

Attendees at the Signing Ceremony

The signing ceremony was attended by several key figures, including Javier Altamirano, Deputy General Director of Operations at CANIETI; Héctor Rafael Ortiz Orpinel, City Secretary; Claudia Morales Medina, General Director of Urban Development; and Ana Estrada, Municipal Syndic.

This collaborative effort marks a significant milestone for Ciudad Juárez, promising a more organized and visually appealing urban landscape while ensuring efficient and reliable telecommunications infrastructure.
