Ciudad Juárez once again became a hub for collectors with the fourth edition of Collectormanía MX, an event designed to highlight the quality of collections in the border region and establish the city as a national destination for family activities and unique exhibitions.
Collectormanía MX: A Showcase of High-Level Collections
Luis Aguirre, the event’s founder, explained that the exhibition brings together collectors of toys, figures, cards, coins, banknotes, video games, and a wide variety of items that are often stored away in homes and display cases. This convention provides an opportunity to showcase these treasures to the public.
“We want to emphasize that Ciudad Juárez has high-level collectors with a great passion for this hobby. We want to put Juárez on the map with good things,” Aguirre stated. Among the most striking pieces were classic Star Wars figures, antique Hot Wheels cars, and toys from the 1960s and 1970s, some considered unique and of high economic value today.
Aguirre noted that these types of items evoke nostalgia among adults, reminding them of their childhood toys. The event took place on Sunday, April 26, at the Injectronic Convention Center, featuring 120 exhibitor tables, a number that reflects the project’s growth from approximately 50 participants four years ago.
Beyond the Exhibits: Tournaments, Conferences, and Robotics
In addition to the exhibitions, the event included video game tournaments, Pokémon card competitions, board games, a children’s Lego contest, conferences with content creators, and a robotics demonstration by children who have won international competitions.
Aguirre indicated that Collectormanía MX attracts visitors and exhibitors from El Paso, Las Cruces, Chihuahua capital, and Delicias, consolidating its position as a regional expo. “We want to make something big, like in Mexico City, Monterrey, or Guadalajara, so that Juárez also has an important event,” he commented.
