Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, May 29 – A teacher has been brought before a judge in Ciudad Juárez to face charges of aggravated sexual abuse against a minor with disabilities. The Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Attention to Women Victims of Crime Due to Gender and Family confirmed that Antonio C. O., 52, was presented before a Control Judge following his arrest on May 28.
Teacher Detained on Arrest Warrant
The accused, Antonio C. O., 52, was arrested on May 28 under an arrest warrant and subsequently transferred to judicial authorities for the initial hearing. During the hearing, a Public Ministry agent informed the defendant of the alleged facts and his possible involvement in the crime of aggravated sexual abuse.
Investigation by Specialized Unit
The investigations are being carried out by the Specialized Unit for Investigation Against Sexual Freedom and Security and Normal Psychosexual Development. This unit gathered the initial evidence presented to the jurisdictional body.
Allegations Stem from Special Education School
According to ministerial investigations, the alleged incidents occurred within a special education institution located in the Los Cisnes subdivision in Ciudad Juárez. The investigation file states that the victim is an adolescent with a disability that prevents her from fully understanding the meaning of the reported events. This circumstance is a key element in the accusation presented by the Prosecutor’s Office.
For reasons of victim protection and in accordance with current legislation, authorities have not provided further details regarding her identity.
Preventive Detention Ordered for Teacher
During the initial hearing, the social representation requested the imposition of precautionary measures against the defendant while the judicial process continues. After analyzing the arguments presented, the Control Judge ordered preventive detention, meaning the accused will remain in custody while his legal situation is determined.
Process Linkage Hearing Scheduled for June 2
The jurisdictional body has scheduled a hearing for next Tuesday, June 2, to decide whether there is sufficient evidence to link the defendant to the process.
