Diverse Thematic Proposals
The program will begin on June 25 with ‘Felipa. A Flash in the Dark,’ by the Teatro de la Rendija company from Yucatan. This monologue is inspired by the life of the Mayan woman Felipa Poot, offering a deep reflection on indigenous identity and resilience.
On June 26, ‘Dad Didn’t Come Back Today Either,’ by La Siembra Teatro from Veracruz, will be presented. This autobiographical play, starring Edgar Ponce and directed by Lucila Castillo, reflects on responsible fatherhood and the impact of absence on families. The work promises to generate an emotional connection with the audience through its sincere and poignant narrative.
Finally, on June 27, ‘Puerpera’ by Proyecto Ataranto from Baja California will be staged. This work addresses a woman’s experience with an unexpected caesarean section, loneliness, and the difficulty of connecting with her baby. The play explores the complexities of motherhood and the challenges faced by new mothers, offering a sensitive and realistic perspective.
Accessibility and Inclusivity: Mexican Sign Language Interpretation
The Ministry of Culture reported that all performances will include interpretation in Mexican Sign Language (LSM), to bring the cultural offer closer to more sectors of the population. This measure highlights the commitment to inclusivity and ensures that people with hearing disabilities can also enjoy these theatrical experiences.
