Ciudad Juarez, September 21 – The General Directorate of Civil Protection reported that the Fire Department responded to 30 service calls between September 20 and 21, while Municipal Rescue personnel conducted 10 interventions across various locations in Ciudad Juarez. Among the notable incidents was the discovery of a suspected fragmented grenade on a sidewalk.
Grenade Discovery Prompts Security Measures
The explosive device, believed to be a fragmented grenade, was located on a sidewalk at the intersection of Pradera de los Álamos and Ciprés, in the Pradera de los Álamos neighborhood. Upon discovery, elements of the Fire Department immediately cordoned off and secured the area to prevent any risk to the public.
As of the latest report, the unit remained on-site, awaiting the arrival of explosives specialists from the National Defense Secretariat (SEDENA). These specialists will be responsible for the safe retrieval and removal of the device.
Ongoing Emergency Services in Ciudad Juarez
In addition to the grenade incident, emergency services continued their operations throughout the night and early morning. This included ongoing drainage efforts in the flooded area at the intersection of Juárez-Porvenir Avenue and Rivera del Salado.
