Free Health Brigade to Address Overdose Crisis in Ciudad Juárez

Ciudad Juárez, August 27, 2026 – A free health brigade aimed at preventing and addressing overdose cases will take place next Monday in downtown Ciudad Juárez. This initiative, part of the activities for International Overdose Awareness Day, will primarily target individuals struggling with drug consumption.

“Aquí Estamos para Ti” Brigade Offers Comprehensive Services

The event, titled “Brigada de Salud Aquí Estamos para Ti” (Health Brigade: We Are Here for You), is organized by Programa Compañeros A.C. in collaboration with the Secretary of Health, the State Commission for Addiction Care, Hospital Civil Libertad, and the Municipal Health Directorate.

María Elena Ramos, director of Programa Compañeros, explained that the brigade will offer various services to the public, with a special focus on those who use substances and face conditions that may increase the risk of an overdose. “We want to bring health services directly to the people who need them most,” Ramos stated.

Event Details and Location

The brigade is scheduled for Monday, August 31st, from 8:00 AM to noon, at a location in the city center. The exact location will be announced closer to the date to ensure accessibility for the target population.

Naloxone Initiative for Security Forces

This initiative comes as an effort to equip security forces with Naloxone, a medication used to reverse the effects of opioid overdoses. The availability of Naloxone is considered crucial in saving lives, and this brigade further emphasizes the importance of immediate intervention in overdose cases.

Context: Growing Concern Over Drug-Related Issues

The organization of this brigade highlights a growing concern in Ciudad Juárez regarding drug-related issues and the need for accessible support and prevention services. Community-led initiatives like this are vital in addressing public health challenges and providing a lifeline to vulnerable populations.

The event aims to raise awareness about overdose prevention, reduce stigma associated with drug use, and provide practical support to individuals and families affected by addiction. It underscores the commitment of local organizations and government bodies to public health and safety in the region.

Local authorities and health organizations encourage all individuals who may benefit from these services, or those seeking information and support, to attend the brigade. The collaborative effort is a testament to the community’s dedication to tackling the complex issue of drug addiction and overdose.
