Major Drug Seizure in Mexico City: Authorities Raid Three Warehouses
Mexico City, April 16, 2026 – The Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office announced a significant drug seizure following the discovery of three warehouses used for storing marijuana and crystal. Three search warrants were executed at the properties located on Lago Zirahuén street, in the Anáhuac neighborhood of the Miguel Hidalgo borough.
The operation, which took place on the night of Wednesday, April 15, involved a coordinated effort between Mexico City authorities, the Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico (SEMAR), the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), and the National Guard (GN). These forces entered the three premises to secure the illicit substances.
Investigation Leads to Successful Raids
Investigations conducted by the Mexico City Prosecutor’s Office revealed that several residences were being used for the storage and distribution of drugs. Based on the evidence and other data obtained, a Public Ministry agent presented the findings to a Control Judge, who subsequently granted the necessary search warrants for the intervention.
During the first intervention, uniformed officers secured plastic bags containing bulk marijuana and a black plastic bag filled with the same herb. In the second raid, authorities seized a transparent plastic bag with pink and blue stripes containing crystal, 1,200 marijuana cigarettes rolled with paper and a mouthpiece, and another transparent plastic bag with bulk marijuana.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts by Mexican authorities to combat drug trafficking and distribution within the capital. The coordinated approach between various security forces proved crucial in dismantling this illicit network.
Ongoing Efforts Against Drug Trafficking
This seizure is part of a broader strategy by the Mexican government to address organized crime and reduce the availability of illegal drugs in communities. Authorities continue to gather intelligence and conduct operations to identify and neutralize drug storage and distribution points across the city.
The successful execution of these search warrants highlights the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and inter-agency cooperation. Further details regarding the individuals involved and potential arrests are expected as the investigation progresses. The confiscated drugs will undergo forensic analysis, and the properties will remain under official custody as part of the legal proceedings.
