Mexico City Congress Invites Public to “Indigenous Mexican Medicine Expo” During World Cup 2026
Mexico City, July 1 – In anticipation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Mexico City Congress has launched the “Indigenous Mexican Medicine Expo,” an initiative designed to immerse national and international tourists in Mexican culture. The expo, which commenced this Wednesday, offers a unique opportunity to explore ancestral healing practices and participate in special ceremonies.
The exhibition is open to the public on July 2, 3, 4, and 6, from 1:00 PM to 7:30 PM, at the Zócalo building, located at Plaza de la Constitución 7, Colonia Centro, Alcaldía Cuauhtémoc. Admission is free of charge.
Exploring Ancient Healing Techniques and Therapies
The expo features a diverse array of alternative techniques and therapies rooted in the medicinal knowledge of indigenous communities. Visitors can experience traditional massages, biomagnetism, and “limpias” – cleansing rituals using herbs, candles, shells, or infusions.
To enhance the experience for both domestic and international visitors, the event includes engaging ceremonies and offerings aimed at attracting good fortune and health, in which attendees are encouraged to participate.
More than 30 traditional healers, shamans, and masseuses from indigenous communities across Mexico City, the State of Mexico, Michoacán, and Oaxaca are present, offering their holistic therapies and insights.
Traditional Products and Artisan Crafts
Attendees will also have the opportunity to browse and purchase health and beauty products, such as gels, lotions, ointments, cosmetics, and candles made from natural ingredients. Additionally, traditional clothing, artisan jewelry, and other crafts from these federative entities are available for sale.
Further Cultural Events Planned
In its ongoing effort to promote Mexican culture and national traditions, the Mexico City Congress has scheduled two additional expos. The “Artistic Paintings and Cartonería Expo” will run from July 7 to 12, followed by the “Oaxaca and Calenda Expo” from July 13 to 19, both held at the same venue.
These cultural events aim to enrich the experience of visitors to the heart of the capital, particularly those attending the Fan Fest organized by the Mexico City Government as part of the World Cup festivities.
The Mexico City Congress emphasizes the importance of these initiatives in showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Mexico to a global audience during this significant international event.
