Mexico City Congress to Comply with SCJN Ruling on Autism Spectrum Law
Mexico City, May 4, 2026 – The Mexico City Congress has approved an agreement to comply with a Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) ruling concerning the Law for the Attention, Visibility, and Social Inclusion of Persons with Autism Spectrum Condition in Mexico City. The agreement establishes a legislative roadmap for the formation of a Technical Consultative Body and modifications to the consultation calendar for the said law.
Legislative Route for Consultative Body Approved
During its Eighth Ordinary Session, held remotely, members of the Commission for Inclusion, Social Welfare, and Enforceability of Social Rights unanimously approved the document. This agreement sets the legislative path for the integration and appointment of individuals, institutions, and collectives that will form the Technical Consultative Body.
Deputy Víctor Gabriel Varela López, President of the Commission, stated that the objective of the agreement is to advance the integration and appointment of the members of the Technical Consultative Body. He also emphasized the validation of adjustments to the working calendar, which outlines the general criteria and work plan for the development of the consultation stages related to the SCJN ruling on the Unconstitutionality Action 38/2021.
Calendar Adjustments for Accessibility and Inclusion
The document highlights the necessity of making adjustments to the previously approved calendar to ensure accessibility, inclusion, and quality in the development of the consultation stages for the aforementioned law. It specifies that the General Agreement was approved on December 1, 2025, with research stages scheduled for January 2026, and institutional linkage in February.
The creation and presentation of the Technical Consultative Body are slated for the first half of May, followed by the creation of the consultation protocol and methodology in the second half of June. The pre-consultation stage will take place between July and August, with the full consultation following in the subsequent two months.
